Lyons Competing at Short Track Canada Cup

November 5th, 2021, Charlottetown – Short track speed skater William Lyons is representing P.E.I. at the Short Track Canada Cup 1 speed skating competition in Calgary this weekend.

Lyons is among sixty male and sixty female athletes competing at the national event, which is the primary qualifying event for the Canadian Junior Short Track Championships to be held in Sherbrooke, QC later this month.

The Rock Barra native will be making his second Canada Cup appearance while looking to earn his first berth in the Canadian Junior Short Track Championships, which will feature the top 32 junior male and junior female skaters from across the country.

Canada Cup competition gets underway on Friday with the 1500-metre event, followed by 500-metre racing on Saturday and the 1000-metre event on Sunday. Live streaming and results can be found at https://www.speedskating.ca/events/2021-st-canada-cup-1
