Speed Skate PEI is now accepting applications for Head Coaching positions for its long-track and short-track speed skating teams (one position for each team) which will compete at the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Applicants must have National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level 3 or Competition-Development Certification as a Speed Skating Coach, or be able to demonstrate how they will achieve same no later than February 1, 2019. Successful applicants will be responsible for identifying training teams, performance program development and implementation (including off ice training, on ice training and competitions). Also, the head coaches, in conjunction with Speed Skate PEI High Performance Committee (pending committee Terms of Reference), will create team selection criteria and make final team selections. The successful applicants will prepare athletes and coach them at the Canada Winter Games, along with other pertinent duties as may be required. The Head Coach for each team will work closely with a Team Manager and the responsible Provincial Sport Organization (Speed Skate PEI) to ensure an optimal experience for our athletes.
Applications will be accepted until May 15, 2016. Applicants should submit a brief letter to info@speedskatepei.ca, which outlines their qualifications, interest and for which position they are applying. Coach selections will be made by an independent committee appointed by Speed Skate PEI. Applicants may be contacted for interviews by the committee and should also be aware that it is not assured that PEI will field teams for both long-track and short-track disciplines. Whether a team or teams are sent will depend upon qualified coaching availability, and whether interested skaters meeting the minimum qualification standards seek positions on each team.
