Reynard, who will skate in the 13-year-old male division, will be making his second appearance at the Championships, after a strong debut at the event held in Sherbrooke, QC last season. In Sherbrooke, Reynard narrowly missed a podium, taking fourth place in the 2,000-metre points race and eighth in the overall standings for his age group. On the Atlantic regional circuit this season, Reynard has garnered three gold medals and one silver medal in just five events.

Hayden will be making his debut in the Championships, competing in the 11-year-old boys division. Now in his fifth year with Speed Skating PEI, Hayden picked up a bronze at the Charles Gorman Memorial competition in Saint John in January, along with another podium finish at the Dartmouth Crossing Sprints earlier this month.

Racing gets underway with the 1,500-metre and 400-metre events on Saturday and will conclude with the 800-metre and 1,000-metre races on Sunday. The P.E.I. skaters will also participate in relay events as members of inter-provincial teams on Saturday and Sunday.
