In celebration of National Skating Day on Saturday, January 21, Speed Skate P.E.I. is hosting a free ‘Try Speed Skating’ session from 10:15 to 11:15 am that day at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.

The Try it session is open to both recreational and prospective competitive skaters, ages 7 and up. Skaters are asked to bring a helmet, neck guard, gloves and their own skates. Those interested will be provided with speed skates (subject to size availability) and should arrive early to allow time for skate fitting.

No registration is required. For more information, contact Speed Skate P.E.I. at info@speedskatepei.ca.

With the recent announcement of the 2023 Canada Winter Games coming to the Island, which will include both short track and long track speed skating, Speed Skate PEI says that now is the ideal time for young athletes to try the sport.

This event is made possible in part with funding support from ParticipACTION and the Government of Canada.
